Salt Lake City, UT: Two arrogant Utah state court clerks have been arrested and charged after it was discovered they assisted illegal aliens avoid and escape capture from ICE agents, according to an indictment that was recently unsealed.
According to court documents, Jennifer Joma, 27, and Kelsey Morrow, 26, were recently indicted for their actions on April 9, 2026.
Back in April, it was reported that Joma and Morrow, both from nearby Logan, Utah, were working at the municipal government building when an ICE officer with an administrative warrant entered the building to effect an arrest of an illegal immigrant for related immigration charges.
The ICE officer then exited the building and waited in his vehicle for the suspect to leave the building to make the lawful arrest.
However, court documents reported that Joma and Morrow sought out to identify ICE’s target and then interfered with the process of apprehending the illegal alien. That included inappropriately searching online court databases to look up each person who was scheduled for a court appearance that day and determining their alienage, effectively weeding out ICE’s likely target.
“During their searches, they identified multiple non-U.S. citizens, and before those non-citizens would leave the courthouse, Joma and Morrow intercepted them. ICE’s intended target was among the unauthorized aliens whom Joma and Morrow helped slip out a backdoor of the courthouse. Joma and Morrow led the individuals down a secure area, several hallways, and eventually out of the courthouse without being seen by ICE,” the U.S. Attorney’s office wrote.
The pair successfully escorted the illegal immigrant outside of the building through an alternate route, evading the ICE agent who was standing by, ready to detain him.
The bold and brazen duo then casually strolled throughout the building, but not before they each acknowledged the building’s security cameras, waving and smiling, even flipping the bird, leaving any chance they had to argue they were innocently helping a lost alien out of the building.
Not too bright of a move that was. But wait, it gets better.
“On the second trip, Joma drove off with three aliens in her car before returning alone to the courthouse for work,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office wrote.
For escorting the lone illegal immigrant out of the building, both women were hit with a slew of charges; conspiracy to transport and harbor illegal aliens, harboring illegal aliens, and obstruction of proceedings.
For Joma, who took the bonus ride with the other illegal aliens, is additionally charged with transporting illegal aliens.
The case is far from over. Homeland Security Investigations has launched an investigation into the matter, likely to determine if these acts are part of a broader, more involved plan to protect, harbor, and interfere with ICE operations as part of the Trump administration's overall plan.
“This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office wrote.
An indictment is a formal charge and should not be interpreted as evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent and are entitled to that presumption unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
