Vermont Is Just Done With Letting People Run Around Naked

BURLINGTON, VT - Currently, there is a law on the books that allows people to be nude in public in the city of Burlington, Vermont, and the city council is attempting to amend that law to curb the nuisance of public nudity downtown.

Burlington's City Council recently approved a new ordinance aimed at tackling the longstanding law that allows people to be nude in public, WSMV reported. The move comes as some downtown businesses have urged the council to act on a number of issues related to people being nude in public spaces.

City Councilors said that there have been multiple reports of incidents in recent years of indecent exposure in public areas and around schools.

Under current Vermont law, Burlington police are limited in what they can do when it comes to addressing incidents of indecent exposure.

Nudity is not illegal in Burlington or the rest of the state of Vermont. As long as a person does not undress in public or harass others, it is legal for them to be naked.

City Councilors said the new ordinance aims to strike a balance.

"Based off similar ordinances that cities and towns around Vermont and around the country have stood up — we need to find a fine balance between protecting folks' right to free expression as well as that level of indecent exposure that really is a public nuisance," City Council President Ben Traverse said.

The city's ordinance committee will now consider the move and final language will likely be brought back for a final vote at a future meeting. Last week, Montpelier hosted the annual World Naked Bike Ride.

The fact this is even an issue is one more proof of how degenerate too many people in our society are.
