LAS VEGAS, NV – According to prosecutors, video allegedly shows the 46-year-old man accused of killing two Nevada State Police Highway Patrol troopers in a hit-and-run crash in late November drinking mere hours earlier at a Las Vegas area casino.

In the early morning hours of November 30th, officials say Sgt. Michael Abbate and Trooper Alberto Felix responded to the D Street exit on Interstate 15 regarding a suspected sleeping driver. At approximately 3:24 a.m., roughly one minute after responding to the original call, a separate vehicle allegedly being driven Jemarcus Williams crashed into the troopers and they were outside of their cruisers attending to the parked vehicle they initially responded to.

Metro Police say the suspect driver fled the scene following the fatal crash, leading to a search spanning the surrounding neighborhoods. Authorities eventually located the suspect vehicle at an apartment complex on Monroe Avenue near MLK Boulevard and Owens Avenue, leading to Williams’ arrest shortly thereafter.

Prosecutors say that while Williams was initially being taken into custody, he allegedly told the arresting officers, “I didn’t kill them; you should be figuring out who did,” before eventually confessing to driving the vehicle involved in the fatal crash. During the confession, Williams said, "I f*cked up."

Williams, who apparently has a previous DUI conviction from 2007, was allegedly drinking heavily in the hours leading up to the fatal collision, with security footage from the Palms casino reportedly showing the suspect ordering numerous drinks and even a full bottle of Hennessy with friends at the casino’s Ghost Bar.

Per the police report detailing the video footage, the suspect can be seen walking “around the bar, interacting with several people, “and appeared to be “intoxicated due to spilling his drink and using furniture for balance.”

At approximately 3:03 a.m. on the day of the incident, hotel security noted in an internal report that they were “escorting an intoxicated man out,” which the aforementioned man was apparently Williams. Apparently, Williams hid from hotel security for a few minutes after being escorted out so as not to signify an intent to drive his vehicle, but police say the suspect returned to his vehicle minutes before the fatal crash and drove off.

A bailing hearing held on December 1st saw the accused hit-and-run driver having his bail set at $500K after the defense sought a bail amount of $20K whereas the prosecution sought a bail amount for $1 million. Williams is currently facing two counts of DUI resulting in death, reckless driving resulting in death and failing to stop at the scene of an accident. The suspect’s next court appearance is slated for December 5th.
