WASHINGTON, DC - Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced that a criminal illegal alien from El Salvador wanted in Colorado on child sexual assault charges was arrested in Falls Church, Virginia, on Aug. 31. Virginia under far-left Gov. Abigail Spanberger, a Democrat who ran as a moderate, has become a hotbed of illegal alien criminal activity.
Jose Saul Canas-Guandique, 49, is wanted in Colorado for felony sexual assault on a child by a person of trust, felony solicitation of child prostitution, and felony use of the internet to lure a child with intent to exploit, the agency announced.
“Jose Saul Canas-Guandique is charged with some horrific crimes and represents a substantial threat to the law-abiding citizens of our Northern Virginia neighborhoods,” said ICE Washington, D.C. Field Office Director Robert Guadian. “He is exactly the type of criminal alien that ICE targets when we arrest the ‘worst of the worst.’ Make no mistake: We will arrest anyone illegally present in the United States, but aliens like Canas-Guandique remain a priority for ICE officers to remove from our American communities.”
The suspect lawfully entered the United States in December 2004, 22 years ago, with permission to remain in the country until June 2005. But he refused to leave the country and illegally stayed for over twenty years.
Canas-Guandique was arrested by Glenwood Springs, Colorado, police on March 7, 2024. ICE will work with Colorado authorities to ensure that the suspect participates in the criminal justice process. He will remain in ICE custody pending the outcome of removal proceedings.
“ICE’s arrest of Canas-Guandique is in keeping with the mandate of the American people to arrest and remove illegal aliens from American communities and President Trump and Secretary Mullin’s promise to make America safe again,” the release said.
