How A Georgia Shooter Allegedly Turned Victim’s Car Into Grisly Rolling Crime Scene

DEKALB COUNTY, GA - Authorities said that a woman was shot 10 times by her ex-boyfriend who then drove her around for hours. Thankfully, the woman survived the horrific domestic violence shooting and recounted the terrifying experience.

The victim, 23-year-old Shamay Pitt, spoke exclusively to WSB-TV as a way to warn other people who might be in dangerous relationships. She told the station that on November 2, she agreed to meet her former boyfriend, 25-year-old Joshua Woodruff.

She picked him up in her car and the conversation took a violent turn when Woodruff allegedly took out a gun and shot her multiple times.

"My ears are ringing, but I'd come to the realization that he is shooting at me," she told WSB. As she recounted what happened, it became clear that the horrific experience would not end for hours.

Woodruff allegedly continued to drive her from DeKalb County across several other counties in Georgia, traveling for hours while Pitt bled in the passenger seat of her own car. "I seen the inside of me on the outside," she said. Pitt feared for her life and that she would not survive, Law & Crime reported.

She begged Woodruff to stop so she could get help, but when she realized a possible fatal outcome, she told him, "Just lay me on the grass, so I can breathe. I don't want to die in this car."

Woodruff apparently relented once they arrived at a hospital in Douglas County. After he dropped her off at WellStar Douglas Hospital, she was transported by paramedics to Kennestone Hospital for surgery.

Pitt continues to recover from her gunshot wounds, and her family started a GoFundMe to help with her medical expenses. She said she is fighting for herself and her young son. "He really is my reason," she said.

She told WSB, "If you see that red flag, run away." An arrest warrant states that Woodruff was detained by security guards at the Douglasville Hospital and taken into custody by a Douglasville Police Department officer.

Woodruff was initially charged with obstruction or hindering law enforcement. Eventually, the charges were upgraded to false imprisonment and aggravated assault.

He is currently in custody at the Douglas County Jail, where he is being held on a $10,000 bond.
