CASPER, WY - A teenage boy was stabbed to death while protecting his girlfriend from two other teenagers who were following the girlfriend and another female friend around the Eastridge Mall.
According to Cowboy State Daily, the two alleged suspects have been charged as adults in the death of 14-year-old Bobby Maher. Court documents show that Jarreth Joseflee Sabstian Plunkett of Evansville faces charges of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, aggravated assault and battery, and theft.
His alleged accomplice, identified as Dominique Antonio Richard Harris of Casper has been charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, aggravated assault and battery, and a misdemeanor theft charge. Both teenagers, aged 15, had their initial appearances in Casper Court on Monday, April 8th.
Robert Maher, the father of Bobby, told Fox News Digital in a statement, "We are completely and utterly devastated to our cores. He was the best of all of us and his light is too bright to be dimmed. We will never be okay again. We love and miss you Bobby. You're our hero our sweet, sweet boy!" Court documents stated that Bobby's girlfriend called him and told him that the two suspects were following her and her friends around the mall on Sunday, April 7th.
An affidavit says, "[Bobby] then told [his girlfriend] that they were going to the mall to come and keep the girls safe." Bobby was heading to the mall with another friend to meet up with his girlfriend and her friends. Once at the mall, Bobby and his friend found the girls and found "JJ and Dom" walking in front of them. The friend told police that he and Bobby were trying to get the girls out of the mall to keep them safe.
As they walked out the mall entrance near a restaurant, Bobby "kept telling JJ and Dom to leave." The affidavit says, "Once all the individuals were outside the exterior entrance doors to the mall a physical altercation ensued." Bobby's friend said, "Dom slammed [Maher] to the ground and that JJ walked up and stabbed him [Maher]."
Bobby's friend reportedly told police that "everything happened so quickly" and that he didn't see the knife until JJ walked up and started stabbing the young boy. The knife was described as "kitchen-style knife" that did not have a cover and was not visible on the suspect. According to the affidavit, Bobby's friend told police that he did not know the alleged attackers' last names, but that they all attended the same middle school together.
Prior to the stabbing incident, both JJ and Dom eventually admitted to police that they stole kitchen knives from Target. The incident was caught on video and the Casper Police Department (CPD) was able to obtain that footage, which shows JJ pursuing Bobby and yelling at him outside the mall entrance. Both suspects were wearing hooded balaclava-style masks that covered their hair and lower faces, but left the eyes and mouth areas open.
The affidavit states, "Jarreth also told [Maher] to swing on him several times, however, [Maher] clearly did not want to fight as he is seen moving in a continuous backwards motion away from Jarreth. However, due to numerous other juveniles gathering around, it appeared as if he was unable to get back inside the mall."
The affidavit also states that the video shows Dom moving into position to "flank" Bobby as JJ approached him from the front. Dom is then seen picking up Bobby "around the waist, lifting him off the ground and slamming him down with great force on his left side." It added, "Dominique is seen holding [Maher] while Jarreth jumped in. Dominique appeared to strike [Maher] in the face, while Jarreth is observed swinging the knife in a downward motion, stabbing [Maher] twice."
Video then shows both suspects step back with JJ placing the knife in his right front pant pocket. Bobby stands up, holding his right abdomen as a "third suspect is observed going towards [Maher] as he is staggering back toward the mall entrance doors." Bobby tried to go through the mall doorway with the help of his friend, but collapsed.
During an interview with police, JJ told them that Bobby told him to "put the knife away" and that "this isn't fair." JJ said that his response was, "I don't fight fair." Both suspects told police that at another alleged incident between Bobby and the two, Bobby called them "freaks." Bond has been set at $500,000 cash for JJ and $450,000 for Harris.

I am so sorry for the Maher family losing their hero son Bobby. We need more young men like him. Rest well Bobby.

So sad. Tragic. Glad the suspects will be tried as adults. Where are the parents of the suspects? Would be nice to wrap them up with some criminal charges as well
