Under attack? Tens of thousands of Chinese illegals detained, released at the southern border

As tensions continue to rise between the United States and China, a disturbing trend has emerged at our porous southern border. The EU Times reports that US border patrol agents have reported a troubling spike in the number of Chinese men attempting to enter the United States illegally. Given the current state of the world, this could pose an existential threat to our national security since we have no idea how many Chinese illegals have evaded Border Patrol. 

Since October 1, some 16,000 Chinese nationals have been apprehended and then released by US Border Patrol agents at various ports of entry. The report said that 10,000 illegals were apprehended in October and November, while 6,000 have been detained since Dec. 1. 

Those numbers do not include an additional 40 Chinese migrants apprehended in Mexico by that country’s authorities enroute to the United States by bus. It also doesn’t include 180 Chinese migrants from Central and South America headed toward the US. 

While for a time only Fox News, Newsmax, and ONN reported on the scourge at the border, it has gotten so severe that even the New York Times and CNN have awoken to the issue. For example, CNN recently reported that over 31,000 Chinese citizens had been apprehended by border officials crossing illegally into the United States from Mexico during the first 11 months of 2023, where the average in previous years was 1,500 per year. 

Many of those military-aged Chinese males crossing into the US claim they are fleeing China due to economic conditions in that country, despite Chinese President Xi Jinping claiming China was amid a “national rejuvenation.” Some say they haven’t worked after three years of draconian COVID-19 lockdowns and other restrictions. 

In addition, some complain about the Chinese Communist Party’s control over their lives. Crackdowns on free speech and religion have also played a role, according to CNN, with some of the Chinese telling CNN that they left the country because they are Christians. If that is true, they may be disappointed to learn that freedom of speech and religion in the United States is also under attack by Democrats. 

According to CNN, Chinese are quickly becoming the fastest-growing group of individuals crossing the border, while the network facilitating their journey to the United States has also grown. 

For many Chinese, their version starts in Quito, Ecuador, which has experienced a surge in Chinese entering the country. For example, in 2022, 13,000 Chinese entered Ecuador, while 2023 saw that number rise nearly three-fold to over 45,000 Chinese nationals entering in the first eleven months of 2023. 

As previously reported by Law Enforcement Today, illegals are getting assisted in their illegal entry into the United States by non-government organizations (NGOs), which offer services from airport pickups to arranging stays at Chinese hostels. Also, people with signs written in Chinese wait outside train stations in Ecuador to provide help reaching the Colombian border, with shops selling gear to assist them in making their trek to the US. Maps written in Chinese are handed out with instructions on how to reach the US. 

In addition, the Daily Caller recently reported that Chinese illegals crossing the US border, who used to be asked 40 questions to determine their refugee status, now only have to answer five. Essentially, that does “fast-track” their entry into the US while preventing Customs and Border Protection agents from asking pertinent questions to help determine whether or not they pose a national security risk. That information was contained in an email obtained by the outlet. 

A retired CBP deputy Patrol Agent in Charge, J.J. Carrell, told the Daily Caller: “I believe the government recognizes the threat of Chinese soldiers and spies that are pouring into America, and they want to try and identify these individuals. However, the same government does not want to stop the flow of illegal aliens or Chinese nationals–just the ‘bad ones,’ which is impossible.” 

Does the Biden administration really “recognize the threat of Chinese soldiers and spies that are pouring into America?” It appears not only do they “recognize” it but tacitly encourage it.
