CHICAGO, IL - A man in his seventies has been arrested after two women were found shot to death in Chicago's Washington Heights neighborhood.
The shooting happened at 10:50 p.m. on Saturday, March 7 in the 10400 block of South Peoria Street, police said. Upon arriving on scene, police found a 71-year-old woman and a 68-year-old woman, both of whom had been shot in the chest, FOX32 reported.
The 68-year-old woman was identified as Phyllis R. Gooslby, of Chicago, by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. The other victim has not yet been identified.
A 75-year-old man was also at the scene and was taken into custody. Officers found a weapon at the scene and charges are pending.
During the early morning hours on Sunday, March 8, a disturbance at a CTA Red Line station led to two young men being shot, according to Chicago police. The physical altercation involving multiple individuals occurred at the 79th Street CTA at approximately 12:54 a.m., NBC5 reported.
During that altercation, gunfire rang out, with a 21-year-old man shot in the chest and a 23-year-old man shot in the buttocks. Both men were taken to an area hospital in serious condition. Three men were taken into custody by Chicago police, and two firearms were recovered. Charges are pending.
In another incident, a shooting left two men dead in the Back of the Yards neighborhood Monday morning, March 9, Chicago police confirmed. The shooting took place at approximately 12:44 a.m. in the 5000 block of West Justine Street, ABC7 reported.
Police said the victims were in a parked vehicle when a dark-colored sedan pulled up. Two male suspects got out of the sedan and fired shots before fleeing in the sedan, police said.
A 19-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and the 20-year-old victim was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. The investigation remains ongoing.
