HARTFORD, CT – Earlier in May, the Connecticut Senate Republican Caucus shared a post on social media highlighting the “culture of corruption” brought forth by Democrat officials within the state, pointing to incidents ranging from bribery convictions to election fraud.
The Connecticut Senate Republican Caucus shared the “culture of corruption” video compilation on Instagram on May 4th, which featured a handful of news reports and headlines regarding controversial incidents involving Democrat officials within the state.
Connecticut’s GOP Senate Caucus captioned the video with, “From a Lamont administration official being convicted of taking bribes and election fraud in Bridgeport to an ongoing FBI investigation into one of their own sitting state senators, CT Democrats sure know a thing or two about building a culture of corruption in our state.”
One of the incidents covered in the post referred to the October 2025 conviction of Konstantinos Diamantis, who was found guilty of extortion, bribery, conspiracy, and false statements given to FBI investigators regarding his time as the director of Connecticut’s Office of School Constructions Grants and Review.
As for the Bridgeport election fraud instances highlighted in the shared video, news reports from the past couple of years detail various convictions and arrests stemming from an investigation launched over absentee ballot fraud that occurred in 2023. Apparently, absentee ballots played a critical role in incumbent Democrat Mayor Joseph Ganim securing his nomination in that year’s primary.
Meanwhile, an FBI probe alluded to in the post pertains to an ongoing investigation into Democrat State Senator Doug McCrory and his connection to a handful of nonprofits where concerns reside over potentially illegal conduct over the managing of funds by Sen. McCrory. Reportedly, the nonprofit tied to Sen. McCrory that has garnered the most scrutiny from an investigation perspective is Blue Hills Civic Association, although Sen. McCrory has maintained that he has “engaged in no wrongdoing.”
