EXCLUSIVE Interview & Prayer with Tom Homan at the National Law Enforcement Memorial & White House

WASHINGTON, DC - Kyle Reyes, owner of the 1776 Project, shared a prayer for the families of fallen officers alongside Border Czar Tom Homan and Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA) National President Matthew Silverman while visiting the National Law Enforcement Memorial before conducting an exclusive interview at the White House with Homan earlier in May.

Prior to the trio sharing a prayer for the families of fallen officers outside of the National Law Enforcement Memorial, Reyes asked Homan why National Police Week is so important to the man functioning as the current administration’s Border Czar. Homan pointed to his upbringing in law enforcement, citing how his father and grandfather donned the badge before he continued the mission and expressed the grief of having to inform families about the loss of their loved ones.

“You know, I grew up in law enforcement. My granddad was a cop. My dad was a cop. I was a cop. And I spent my whole career doing this. And I say many times, it's the worst thing about my career. I've had a great career. I've had a great ride. The worst thing in my career is handing a folded flag to a spouse or a child of a fallen officer. I buried Border Patrol agents. I buried ICE agents,” Homan stated.

After Reyes led the three in prayer, the three regrouped at the White House to continue the conversation of the relevance National Police Week holds for Homan personally, with the administration’s Border Czar characterizing the weeklong event as a “salute” to law enforcement of past and present.

“Look, it's a salute and a recognition to the men and women of law enforcement. Those who gave their lives, but just as importantly, the survivors. It's also a salute to men and women who are out there right now with a gun on their hip and carrying that badge who put their lives at risk every day to do this job,” Homan remarked.

When discussing the issues pertaining to the southern border, Homan extended accolades to President Donald Trump’s efforts and administrative agenda to help get the border secure, emphasizing that said border is “more secure” than during President Trump’s first term in office.

“We’ve got the most secure border in the history of the nation today. Even more secure than Trump 45. The board chose that they would do that in about seven weeks, right? So, it didn't take legislation - it took a new president. And that's what the American people voted for, that's what they got. So today, I'm happy to say we got the most secure border in the history of this nation,” Homan stated.

Reyes brought up the point of how mainstream media outlets tend to portray immigration enforcement as an evil thing, promoting stories and narratives where they’ll run with themes like “Hey, this is just the women that work at your nail salon, these are the innocent people.” Homan explained in response that enforcement needs to be sweeping currently in order to ensure proper vetting thereafter.

“Well, first of all, the reason there’s mass deportation, it's a required response, a required law enforcement response to four years of a mass illegal immigration, where over 10 million people came to this country. Released, unvetted, not vetted properly. I mean, Secretary Mayorkas would say ‘Everybody released was vetted.’ How do you vet somebody if you don't have access to the criminal history in their home country,” Homan openly speculated.

When probed by Silverman on what Americans can expect from the administration regarding federal immigration enforcement in the future, Homan stated that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) isn’t going anywhere and that the successes seen thus far in terms of public safety will only continue to grow.

“ICE is out there today. ICE will be out there tomorrow. This administration has removed hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens that are a public safety threat. That's why the crime rate is down in many areas, and that's why the murder rate's down. That's a big part of it. With the work ICE is doing, along with the men and women of DOJ and FBI, crime rate's very low. And President Trump, one of his other commitments: promises made, promises kept. This makes this country not only great again, it makes this country safe again - and ICE has a big role in that,” Homan explained.
