ROCHESTER, NY – An unruly mob surrounded Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in a residential neighborhood in Rochester earlier in September, slashing the tires of agents attempting to perform their duties while being endorsed by a Monroe County legislator present and filming the unlawful actions.
On September 9th, ICE agents operating in upstate New York were left with little choice but to retreat from a residential area located along Park Avenue in Rochester after anti-ICE agitators surrounded them while agents were attempting to make contact with suspected illegal aliens who refused to come off a residential rooftop.
One of the roofers was reportedly taken into custody, but several reportedly were unable to be taken into custody after the anti-ICE mob grew increasingly violent, with unknown assailants having slashed the tires of at least one of the agent’s vehicles. One of the apparent agitators present was none other than Monroe County legislator Rachel Barnhart, who represents the 17th District.
Barnhart initially chronicled her arrival at the scene via X with a post that read, “I’m on Westminster where two roofers won’t come down from the roof. ICE is waiting for them. Huge crowd to bear witness. Lawyers demanding warrants. This is very, very sad to see.”
The Monroe County legislator continued posting on scene from there, taking photos and video, with her following post explicitly detailing the location of the agents with, “People are yelling to them to stay strong. The agents are in the back yard.”
Barnhart followed the aforementioned up with a congratulatory posting about ICE leaving the area after the unruly mob continued their intimidation efforts, captioning a video she took with, “ICE has left. The collective action worked.”
Apparently, Barnhart was witness to the tire slashing to some degree, sharing video of the aftermath while writing, “But someone slashed the CPB truck tires so they haven’t been able to leave.”
In the local legislator’s own words following the actions of the mob she was party to, she boasted of how their collective efforts were to obstruct federal law enforcement, writing, “The state delegation is here, as well as faith leaders, union leaders and Metro Justice. Immigration activists and regular neighbors came out as well. Probably 200 people here to bear witness and let ICE know they’re not welcome in Rochester.”
No official statement regarding the actions of Barnhart nor the mob has been furnished by officials as of this writing, nor is it clear whether any participants are facing potential criminal charges.

Meanwhile, crime in NY continues to get worse. If New Yorkers are going to protect criminals, then they are actively choosing to have unsafe streets and the crime those criminals cause. They apparently don't want their kids to be safe. That's on them 100% now.

When people do things like this, they need to be treated accordingly, and ICE and any other Law Enforcement Agency should be allowed to defend themselves and treat people that are attacking them in the proper fashion. If they are acting like rioters, then treat them like rioters, the way we used to back when I was a kid growing up. I am about to turn 63, and then we used to show rioters no mercy, and riots were few and far between, and didn't last long when they did start. People back then knew better, as riots were put DOWN and with a quickness....
