TRENTON, NJ - On Wednesday, April 30th, the U.S. Attorney's Office District of New Jersey said that a paroled sex offender is now facing new child pornography charges after federal investigators reported finding that he had more than 800 child sex abuse files stored on a memory card.
According to reports, 69-year-old David Tuytjens of Tewksbury, has been charged by complaint with a single count of possession of child pornography. Back in 2012, Tuytjens was convicted of the same charge and sentenced to 10 years in federal prison. As part of his sentence, he is subject to parole supervision for life and banned from owning any internet-capable devices.
The U.S. Attorney's Office also said that he was previously convicted of aggravated sexual assault. In December 2024, the State Parole Board found a laptop and MicroSD memory card during a search of his home. Federal prosecutors said that the storage card contained 800 photos and 30 videos depicting the sexual abuse of children.
Investigators said that certain files contained sadistic or masochistic conduct and the sexual abuse of toddlers and infants. Tuytjens made his first appearance in Trenton federal court and is now in custody.
In a separate incident, a Tier 3 sex offender who has multiple convictions on sex charges involving children is fighting again to be released from a New Jersey prison. According to Patch, 69-year-old David F. Hohsfield, has filed court documents seeking to be released from prison after he was sent back on a parole violation.
Hohsfield was arrested in September 2022 for violating parole after he was seen on surveillance video walking into the Chuck E. Cheese restaurant in Brick. The report said that while in the restaurant filled with children, he did not make any contact with any of them. His parole, however, was still revoked as being in that close of proximity to children violates his parole stipulations.
According to prison records, he is scheduled to be released from South Woods State Prison in February 2026. Hohsfield is a career criminal with crimes dating back to 1975. He has been arrested more than 40 times.
Hohsfield has fought the Megan's Law provisions repeatedly since his 1977 guilty plea in a Bergen County case where he lured a girl in his car and then sexually assaulted her. According to a 2014 New Jersey State Appellate Court opinion on one of his appeals, Hohsfield violated the registration provision in 2001, 2002, 2005, and 2007.
That opinion also cited his March 2005 conviction. In that case, an Asbury Park police officer saw Hohsfield stopped in his van talking to two 11-year-old girls, despite knowing he was prohibited from having contact with children he did not know. In each of the three convictions listed on the sex offender database registry, Hohsfield approached the victims in a public area and tried to lure him into his vehicle.
