WASHINGTON, DC – According to a press release from Homeland Security, officials have obtained credible evidence of Mexican cartels issuing bounties against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol agents operating in areas like Chicago, with said bounties allegedly being entertained by domestic extremist groups on the ground.
On October 14th, the Department of Homeland Security revealed that criminal outfits operating in Mexico are reportedly offering bounties to dox, kidnap and injure, and even murder ICE and Border Patrol agents who are simply performing their duties here in the United States.
What’s all the more alarming regarding the matter is that domestic criminal and activist networks are allegedly involved in the broader scheme.
Officials say gangs like the Latin Kings have been deploying “spotters” throughout Chicago, where said spotters will settle themselves amidst rooftops in areas where ICE and Border Patrol are operating, delivering real-time intel through radio communications regarding the movements of agents and officers.
The aforementioned surveillance model has reportedly resulted in “disruptions during routine enforcement actions, including recent raids under Operation Midway Blitz,” according to Homeland Security.
Elsewhere in Chicago, as well as Portland, Homeland Security notes that Antifa militants have been embroiled in the broader scheme, providing “logistical support such as pre-staged protest supplies, doxxing of agent identities, and on-the-ground interference to shield cartel-linked individuals from deportation.”
The bounty system in play reportedly operates off a tiered system, with the more heinous actions carried out, the bigger the monetary reward is for the malefactors.
Mexican cartels are allegedly offering up to $2,000 for doxxing agents and providing information on their families, up to $10,000 for every kidnapping or assault of an agent, and up to $50,000 for the assassination of high-ranking officials within the agencies.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem issued a statement in light of the unsettling intelligence, vowing that anyone involved in the broader bounty scheme will face justice.
“These criminal networks are not just resisting the rule of law, they are waging an organized campaign of terror against the brave men and women who protect our borders and communities,” Secretary Noem stated.
“Our agents are facing ambushes, drone surveillance, and death threats, all because they dare to enforce the laws passed by Congress. We will not back down from these threats, and every criminal, terrorist, and illegal alien will face American justice.”
