How ICE Found an Illegal Immigrant Enforcing the Law in Illinois

CHICAGO, IL – Earlier in October, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested an illegal alien who was reportedly working as a sworn police officer out of a Chicago suburb, with the agency highlighting how the officer had been illegally residing in the country for approximately a decade and yet still was hired to enforce the law in Illinois.

In what could serve as an optimal nod to the notion that truth is stranger than fiction, an October 16th press release from Homeland Security announced the arrest of an illegal alien who was working as a sworn police officer for the Hanover Park Police Department.

As part of Operation Midway Blitz, ICE agents encountered Radule Bojovic during a “targeted enforcement action,” who the agency says has been residing in the country illegally since March of 2015.

According to the agency, Bojovic entered the United States via a B2 tourist visa which expired over ten years ago, yet he seemingly never left the country.

What the agency thought most confounding in Bojovic’s case is the fact that he was hired as a police officer despite his illegal status in the country, making note of the sum of his salary and benefits which have already cost taxpayers in excess of $200K so far for 2025.

A report from CNN quoted Hanover Park Mayor Rodney Craig in regard to the controversy, with the mayor claiming, “the village and the police department conducted its own thorough due diligence as part of this hiring process,” further asserting that Bojovic’s background check was conducted “by the FBI and Illinois State Police” and showed an absence of criminal history.

Additionally, Mayor Craig claimed, “If Officer Bojovic did not hold federal work authorization, he would not have been hired.”

Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin issued a statement regarding Bojovic’s arrest, citing the case as evidence of a systemic problem within Illinois that seems to ignore federal law.

“Governor J.B. Pritzker doesn’t just allow violent illegal aliens to terrorize Illinois’s communities, he allows illegal aliens to work as sworn police officers,” Assistant Secretary McLaughlin stated.

“Radule Bojovic violated our nation’s laws and was living illegally in the United States for 10 years - what kind of police department gives criminal illegal aliens badges and guns? It's a felony for aliens to even possess a firearm. A so-called law enforcement officer who is actively breaking the law”.

Assistant Secretary McLaughlin emphasized, “Under President Trump and Secretary Noem ICE is restoring law and order. Criminal illegal aliens have no place in our communities, especially on our police forces.”

How ICE Found an Illegal Immigrant Enforcing the Law in Illinois The body of the article states he was hired as a sworn law enforcement officer. It does not actually support the claim he was enforcing the law.
