ICE Busts Senate Aide for Bogus Lawyer Ruse to Release Criminal Migrant

EAST ST. LOUIS, IL- Democrat Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) is under fire after one of her staffers was snagged posing as a lawyer in an attempt to free an illegal alien from custody, The Gateway Pundit reports

The Department of Homeland Security is livid after Edward York, the staffer, lied to federal agents, misrepresenting himself as legal counsel for Jose Ismeal Ayuzo Sandoval, a four-time deported illegal alien with a prior DUI conviction.

In a letter, DHS said York entered the ICE facility on Oct. 29, lying on an official DHS form. York met with Sandoval, who signed a G-28 form, authorizing York to represent him as a client, The Gateway Pundit reported.

Citing Fox News Digital, the outlet reported that York initially tried to submit the G-28 form without Sandoval’s signature.

“Four days later, a Suarez Law Office in Collinsville, Illinois, filed an electronic copy of a G-28 form that did not have Sandoval’s signature even though York, who claimed to work for that law firm, had already obtained a signed form,” the letter said, according to Fox News Digital.

Homeland Security believes York was collaborating with the law firm.

“It appears as if Mr. York may have collaborated with the firm to cover his misrepresentation,” the letter stated.

From Fox News Digital:

“The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said a member of Sen. Tammy Duckworth’s office, D-Ill, misrepresented himself as the attorney of a detained illegal immigrant to facilitate their release.

According to a letter sent Wednesday to Duckworth, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Acting Director Todd Lyons said the staffer told federal agents he was the attorney of Jose Ismeal Ayuzo Sandoval–a 40-year-old illegal immigrant previously deported four times to Mexico and who had a DUI conviction.

The letter says the staffer entered an ICE facility in St. Louis, Ill, on Oct. 29.

“At approximately 1:29 p.m., an individual identified as Edward York, who, according to publicly available information, is employed as a Constituent Outreach Coordinator for your Senate office, entered the field office lobby, and in a discussion with a federal officer, claimed to be Mr. Ayuzo’s [Sandoval’s] attorney. Mr. York demanded to speak with his ‘client,’” the letter states.

“This staff member allegedly did so to gain access to the detainee and seek his release from custody, and he accomplished it by falsifying an official Department of Homeland Security (DHS) form.”

York successfully met with Ayuzo and had him sign a G-28 form, the letter said. That form allows an attorney to represent a client in immigration matters, in this case, an illegal alien, enabling them to receive official correspondence, communicate with government agencies on their behalf, etc.

According to The Daily Mail, ICE was tipped off when a Facebook page, which has since gone private, described a staffer going to ICE to misrepresent himself.

“It implore all members of the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate, as well as their staff, to stop the political games that put law enforcement and detainees at risk,” Lyons wrote.

“It is my sincere hope that you will advocate on behalf of your constituents who have been victimized by illegal alien crime and work with DHS to remove these criminals from the United States.”

Duckworth has until November 17 to respond to Lyons’ letter, which asks whether she still employs York and whether he did, indeed, lie to federal agents.

Duckworth’s office has not yet responded to a request for comment from The Daily Mail.

This is the latest stunt pulled by Democrats in an attempt to circumvent the Trump administration’s efforts to deport criminal illegal aliens.
