Illegal immigrants arrested for rape beneath Coney Island Boardwalk; had plead out on previous rape charge

BROOKLYN, NY - Daniel Davon-Bonilla, 24, a Nicaraguan illegal immigrant, and Leovando Moreno, 37, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, were arrested after they allegedly grabbed a 46-year-old woman off of the street near Coney Island and brutally raped her at knife-point Sunday. Moreno reportedly struck the woman's boyfriend, 34, with a pipe when he attempted to intervene, sources within the NYPD said.

According to The New York Post, the attack allegedly occurred just outside a hotel that has been used by the city to house the horde of illegal immigrants who have flooded the sanctuary city. The victim was reportedly dragged beneath the Coney Island Boardwalk at Surf Avenue and 16th Street at about 9:00 p.m.

An NYPD spokesperson told reporters, "Upon arrival officers were informed a 46-year-old female was approached by two unidentified individuals and forced her to the ground by holding a knife to her throat. One of the individuals forcibly raped the victim. A 34-year-old male victim attempted to intervene and was struck with an object by the second individual."

The Post reported that the victim was hospitalized in stable condition. The male assault victim declined medical attention.

Authorities told the Post that a poorly lit walkway leading to a space under the boardwalk where homeless people camp, littered with drug and alcohol debris, was the site of the assault.

On Monday, the outlet reported that Davon-Bonilla, who resided at the La Quinta Hotel, has been charged with first-degree rape, second-degree assault, first-degree sexual abuse, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon citing the NYPD source. He is scheduled for arraignment at Brooklyn Criminal Court.

Moreno has been charged with second-degree assault.

Fox News reported that per an NYPD source, Davon-Bonilla was previously arrested in April on accusations he raped and sodomized a 34-year-old woman at the La Quinta.

For that incident, he was charged with criminal sexual act, unlawful imprisonment as a hate crime, sexual misconduct, and sexual abuse, according to a criminal complaint. He only spent a matter of months in jail before taking a plea deal from the New York District Attorney and was not deported.

A Post source with the US Department of Homeland Security told the outlet that Davon-Bonilla illegally entered the US near Eagle Pass, Texas border station, and was discovered by Border Patrol agents sneaking through the thick brush along the Rio Grande. He was detained by ICE and told the agents he would be living in Miami.

The source told the Post, "When sanctuary cities and states don’t share immigration information or work well with ICE, ICE never gets an opportunity to actually do their job and remove subjects with criminal history while being here illegally."
