Alabama ICE Demands Justice For Teen Mowed Down by Illegal Alien

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) New Orleans office issued a detainer for an illegal alien arrested in Alabama earlier in October who stands accused of killing a 16-year-old while driving under the influence.

ICE ERO New Orleans placed an immigration detainer 30-year-old Franklin Oriel Fajardo-Arana, an illegal alien from Honduras, following his arrest on October 27th regarding a fatal DUI crash in Mobile, Alabama, which reportedly led to a 16-year-old boy being killed in the collision. According to Mobile-based talk radio outlet FM Talk 1065, officers responded to the scene of the crash on the afternoon of October 26th in the area of Montlimar Drive and Michael Boulvard where two vehicles were reportedly involved.

Investigators claim that the driver of a Toyota 4Runner, identified as Fajardo-Arana, was under the influence of alcohol when he collided with another motorist driving a Toyota Corolla. Neither Fajardo-Arana nor any of the occupants inside of the Toyota Corolla suffered any serious injuries, but Fajardo-Arana’s juvenile passenger reportedly died at the scene as the impact caused the teen’s body to be partially ejected from the vehicle after rolling over.

Officials have yet to publicly identify the teen killed in the collision nor have they revealed the relationship between the deceased and Fajardo-Arana.

In light of the immigration detainer placed on Fajardo-Arana, a Mobile County judge on October 28th ordered he be held without bond on a charge of DUI manslaughter. During Fajardo-Arana’s arraignment held on the same day, the defendant entered an initial plea of not guilty.

ICE noted in their press release that Fajardo-Arana also has another warrant out of Kentucky for a separate DUI charge.

In a statement from ICE New Orleans Field Officer Director Scott Ladwig regarding Fajardo-Arana’s issued detainer, he emphasized, “ICE remains committed to prioritizing the arrest and removal of criminal illegal aliens who pose threats to public safety.”

Director Ladwig added that the case in question “underscores the critical importance of ICE’s partnerships with local law enforcement agencies to identify and remove individuals who have violated our nation’s immigration laws and endangered our communities.”
