Kentucky Man Stuffed His Own Wife’s Body in Home Before Torching Car, Cops Say

BOWLING GREEN, KY- A disturbing story out of Kentucky alleges that a man killed his wife and then left her body in the kitchen for three days, telling their children that she “was sleeping.”

The suspect, Salko Husejnovic, is accused of murder, tampering with physical evidence, and abuse of a corpse in connection with the death of Jasmina Aljic, Law & Crime reports.

Shortly before 3:30 a.m. on Jan. 19, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office responded to a car fire after a purported crash. When firefighters arrived at the scene, the vehicle was fully engulfed. Crews extinguished the fire and found a body inside, which turned out to be Aljic.

It was later determined that Aljic was dead before the vehicle caught on fire since there was no soot in her lungs. It was also determined that the vehicle appeared to be deliberately set ablaze.

Investigators discovered Husejnovic allegedly attacked and killed his wife three days before her body was found. According to the arrest citation obtained by Fox affiliate WDKY, she was dead on the kitchen floor for three days as the suspect and the couple’s three children stayed in the home, with Husejnovic telling the children, “mommy was sleeping.”

Investigators believe that Husejnovic enlisted the help of Shelly Boyd, 44, who was dating his brother. She saw the attack, however did nothing to stop it. Investigators allege that it was Boyd who bought the gasoline to torch the vehicle.

She and Husejnovic drove to the location on Threlkel Ferry Road, where the staged car fire occurred, and set it on fire. Boyd is facing charges of tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse.

At a preliminary hearing last week, a detective testified that a protective order had been issued against Husejnovic in Missouri, according to a courtroom report filed by the Bowling Green Daily News. Aljic lived in Missouri until after Christmas, then moved to the Bowling Green area.

After finding Aljic’s body, Boyd answered the door and said he wasn’t home; however, the police learned he was inside hiding. He eventually came out on his own. Police learned he was, in fact, hiding, and he eventually came out willingly. Husejnovic initially denied knowing his wife’s whereabouts, telling police he last saw her in November, the Daily News reported.

Investigators testified that while conducting a search of the home, they found a bag of clothing hidden in a kitchen cabinet. Surveillance video showed Boyd wearing the same clothing as she and Husejnovic tried to get rid of the car. Police also found three bloodstained pillows in the washing machine.

Boyd finally told detectives she saw Husejnovic “beating” his wife, reports said. She also confirmed the body was on the kitchen floor for three days. Boyd said that Husejnovic initially planned to push the car down a cliff with Aljic inside, however when that didn’t pan out, he set the car on fire.

During an interview with detectives, Husejnovic admitted that he struck his wife during an argument, and she stopped breathing. He claimed it was Boyd’s idea not to call 911 and leave the body in the kitchen, the Daily News said.

Aljic’s specific cause of death has yet to be determined. Meanwhile, Husejnovic is in the Warren County Jail, held on a $1 million bond. Boyd is being held on a $50,000 bond.
