LAS VEGAS, NV - On Wednesday, Deobra Redden, 30, a violent felon with three prior convictions brazenly attacked a Las Vegas judge moments after she pronounced his sentence denying him probation.

According to reporting from KLAS, Redden was standing in the Clark County District Court to receive his sentence from Judge Mary Kay Holthus on a charge of attempted battery with substantial bodily harm per court records.

Our Nevada Judges Inc. provided the most complete footage of the incident.

In the video, Judge Holthus can be heard refusing the Defense's motion for probation rather than a prison sentence saying, "I appreciate that, but I think it's time he (Redden) get a taste of something else because I just can't with that history."

She then began to read her ruling, "In accordance with the laws of the state of Nevada this court—," when she was cut off by Redden shouting from the Defendant's table, yelling, "F*** that b*tch." At that point, Redding rapidly closed the distance to the bench and leaped over the front of it, lunging at the judge and pulling her to the ground before being pulled off of her by the bailiffs.

According to 8News Now, Redden had threatened to "bust the kneecaps” of another man, “resulting in substantial bodily harm,” court documents said. In May, another judge in Clark County ordered Redden to be tested for psychological competency, at which time he was committed to a Nevada behavioral facility.

He was subsequently found competent to stand trial, and plead guilty in November. The defendant then missed his court appearance resulting in a bench warrant from Judge Holthus in December, leading to Wednesday's attack on the judge.

The outlet reported that Redden has now been booked on additional charges of battery and battery against a protected person. The battery-on-a-protected-person charge stated that the victim, presumably Holthus, was "substantially harmed."

Redden is due to appear in court again Thursday for a hearing on the new charges. Sources in the court told reporters that Holthus hit her head but was not seriously injured, and that a courtroom marshal was injured while restraining Redden. KTNV reported that her condition is being monitored, and the marhsal was transported to an area hospital.

The district court said in a statement to KTNV, "We commend the heroic acts of her staff, law enforcement, and all others who subdued the defendant. The court remains committed to a safe and secure courthouse and courtrooms. We are reviewing all our protocols and will do whatever is necessary to protect the judiciary, the public, and our employees."

Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson told KLAS in a statement, "Thank God the judge is okay. Thank God for the heroic efforts of those who came to her aid, especially her marshal and her law clerk. Without them, the situation would have been much worse as this defendant exhibited extremely violent behavior and I’m confident there will be consequences"
