PHILADELPHIA, PA - According to the Daily Caller, the once great city of Philadelphia is not so filled with ‘’brotherly love’’ as once advertised.
Scott Harris, a 62-year-old Navy veteran, was brutally beaten last weekend and left with a head wound that required 100 stitches. It has been reported by NBC10 in Philadelphia that Harris also was left with a brain injury.
Harris was attacked last weekend in the Brewerytown neighborhood after a party in the neighborhood turned violent. Around 11:50pm, Harris was attacked by at least one partygoer, who knocked the navy veteran unconscious and stole his wallet.
While Harris had no cash in the wallet, he said the act was extra painful because he kept his now passed mother’s license in the wallet. Harris told NBC10 Philadelphia ‘’Sadly, the only thing I really cared about in that wallet was my mother’s driver’s license. She passed about 10 years ago, that is how I kept her close, and now I don’t even have that."
Harris was once deployed to Iraq and Ukraine during his naval service "without any significant incidents." He said he is stunned that the most danger he has faced in his life happened at home in the streets of Philadelphia. "And then I come here walking my dog right by my house and get attacked by this," he said. "I just don't see the sense in this."
Harris was found bleeding profusely on his front stoop on the phone with 911 by three women. The women were able to get Harris inside and locate Harris’s partner, a man named Joseph Hurchick. Hurchick was able to contact emergency services and get his partner to the hospital.
Hurchick told NBC10 that he and his partner had complained to police many times about the parties going on in the neighborhood getting out of control. ‘’It’s going to take a murder for this to stop,’’ he said.
"Thank God, you know, there are good people," Harris said. "And maybe they're mixed up with some people that aren't so nice. And they just saw a human being in need and brought me back safely."

Where was his gun? An ex-military should have sense enough to have a CCW.
