Ohio Police Under Fire as 911 Dispatcher Mocked Assassination of Charlie Kirk

KENT, OH – A 911 dispatcher out of Kent, Ohio, is facing heavy scrutiny after making some inflammatory statements online regarding the assassination of Charlie Kirk. However, despite the alarming rhetoric from the dispatcher and the public-safety responsibilities she’s endowed with, it appears she’s faced zero disciplinary measures from the Kent Police Department.

Elizabeth Sadowski, a 911 dispatch supervisor for the Kent Police Department, appears to have been among the many to engage in the highly distasteful rhetoric following Kirk’s September 10th assassination at Utah Valley University, reportedly taking to Facebook shortly after his passing to post the word “Karma.”

Sadowski’s original post appeared to have generated some pushback from her followers, with her snarkily sharing a follow up post which read, “Thoughts and prayers…is this better?”

Suffice it to say, Sadwoski’s seemingly arrogant post in response to the initial criticism she faced resulted in the outrage collectively expanding, with the news of her posts finding its way over to former Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell.

Given Blackwell’s conservative leanings, he too was not amused with Sadowski’s social media posts, sharing said sentiments on September 12th, emphasizing the gravity of such callous remarks coming from an individual who works in public safety.

“This isn’t just a random troll on the internet,” Blackwell noted.

Adding, “This is a public safety official. A 911 dispatcher. Someone whose job is to answer desperate calls for help and send police, firefighters, and EMTs to save lives. And yet she sees political assassination as karma and laughs at those offering prayers.”

Blackwell continued to drive the point home regarding the serious concerns Sadowski’s social media posts present to her workplace endeavors, reiterating with, “How can anyone trust her judgment when lives are on the line? If she thinks some people deserve to die because of their beliefs, can Kent residents really believe she will treat every 911 caller fairly and without bias? The stakes are too high for that kind of doubt.”

The former Ohio Secretary of State’s post concluded with an assertion that the city government needs to respond to the matter, as Sadowski’s job literally involves matters of life and death, the latter of which she seemingly finds to be something to laugh at when a person she ideologically disagrees with winds up being murdered.

“The City of Kent, Ohio, must answer immediately: Why is someone like this employed as a dispatcher? How many lives depend on the decisions she makes every single day? Beth Bliss Sadowski has shown who she is. A public safety worker who mocks tragedy and cheers death cannot be trusted with the responsibility of a 911 line.”

Considering the gravity of Sadowski’s online rhetoric in tandem with the news reaching the former Ohio Secretary of State, reasonable minds would expect some sort of announcement from local officials that the matter would be looked into, and proper disciplinary measures enacted.

However, nothing of the ilk appears to have transpired.

Some sources told Law Enforcement Today they believe Sadowski is likely not to face any repercussions regarding her conduct online, suggesting the City of Kent and the Kent Police Department may be opting to ignore the controversy completely.

When reached for comment on the matter, Kent Chief of Police Nicholas Shearer noted in a statement,"This has been a challenging issue to sort out legally but please know that there’s an ongoing internal review, that included getting third party expert labor law advice.  We are doing our best to navigate the laws and union contracts while being respectful of the due process procedures and rights of all the parties involved."

Chief Shearer additionally stressed that his department is "taking this seriously," but cannot expand upon matters related to personnel.

It's simple. She deserves to be removed from her position, effective immediately. If the Chief is ignorant to this, maybe he should be removed, also.
