Girlfriend Arrested After Allegedly Trying to “Beat Baby Out” of Pregnant Victim

RACINE, WI – A 38-year-old woman is in custody while a second suspect is on the loose after the duo allegedly ambushed a pregnant woman outside of her workplace earlier in January, reportedly attacking the victim with a metal bat in an effort to kill her unborn child. The female suspect in custody is apparently the girlfriend of the victim’s unborn child’s father.

At approximately 7:00 a.m. on January 15th, Gheonna Lacy was reportedly heading outside to warm up her vehicle outside of her workplace when she was attacked by two masked assailants, one reportedly female and the other male.

According to the victim, who is pregnant, the female attacker ordered her male accomplice to “beat the baby out” and “kill the baby,” while the duo beat Lacy with a metal bat while kicking and stomping on her.

Lacy was subsequently rushed over to an area hospital following the attack, where she was last reported as being monitored closely by hospital staff regarding her injuries as well as the wellbeing of the unborn child.

During the attack, Lacy reportedly recognized the female assailant after her mask slipped off briefly during the assault, informing police she believed the woman was 38-year-old Marielle Barrios. Lacy believes the attack was motivated by an ongoing dispute between her and Barrios, as Lacy is pregnant with Barrios’ boyfriend’s child.

Following the attack, Barrios reportedly dropped off a note at a local police station refuting Lacy’s allegations before fleeing out of state.

Authorities in Arkansas located Barrios in Hempstead County on January 23rd, taking her into custody on the warrant out of Wisconsin along with another woman, 27-year-old Melvina Lewis, who is accused of harboring/aiding a wanted person/felon.

Police have yet to identify the male suspect at large wanted in connection to the mid-January attack. Barrios is currently facing charges of substantial battery, aggravated battery to an unborn child and armed robbery for the alleged theft of Lacy’s phone during the assault.
