As National Guard Battles LA, See It Send It Serves as a Key Safety Tool

Violent protests erupted in downtown Los Angeles last weekend as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents executed a series of raids, leading to safety concerns and President Trump sending National Guard troops to assist.

The unrest, which began Friday, is tied to ICE’s operation that resulted in at least 44 detainees across the Fashion District, Home Depot, and a clothing warehouse in Westlake.

Confrontations between agents and demonstrators escalated quickly when protestors hurled concrete and makeshift firebombs. Police deployed tear gas, flash‑bangs, and rubber bullets to drive crowds from street corners and federal facilities, declaring multiple unlawful assembly zones, the Associated Press reported.

By Sunday, roughly 2,000 National Guard troops had been mobilized under orders from President Trump, overriding objections from California Gov. Gavin Newsom, to stabilize the unrest following reports of self-driving cars torched on Highway 101 and fires lit near the Metropolitan Detention Center.

The demonstration reportedly involved over 2,000 participants, with widespread vandalism, bottles, and fireworks thrown toward police, and several officers suffering injuries.

For those tracking rapidly evolving protests, the online platform SeeItSendIt.com has emerged as a top-tier resource. Featuring real-time crowd-sourced videos, incident maps, and verified footage of law enforcement activity, the site offers numerous resources for such situations. Many in the public safety community commend its utility, saying it aids both risk assessment and tactical coordination.

“In light of the recent protests in Los Angeles surrounding ICE operations, I want to express my deep appreciation for the courage and professionalism of Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers and our law enforcement partners. Working in fast-moving, high-pressure environments, these teams depend on clear, accurate information and efficient communication to keep our communities safe,” stated Dan Kerning, founder and CEO of SeeItSendIt.com.

“That’s why at See It Send It, we built our platform to deliver real-time, geo-tagged incident reporting, seamless photo and video uploads, and centralized command-center dashboards—tools that empower officers in the field to document every development, coordinate effectively, and ensure transparency every step of the way. We’re proud to support those on the front lines with technology designed to enhance situational awareness, streamline response, and reinforce public trust,” he continued.

ICE spokespersons noted a “dramatic increase” in assaults against agents accusing sanctuary city leaders of fueling hostility by demonizing enforcement actions following the weekend of upheaval in Southern California.
Assistant Secretary McLaughlin condemned the violence, urging political leaders to “tone down rhetoric,” noting, “The men and women of ICE put their lives on the line.”

Despite the clashes, ICE agents proceeded with detentions. DHS confirmed over 100 illegal immigrants were arrested between June 6 and 7. Federal officials emphasized arrests targeted individuals accused of serious criminal offenses, including violent and sexual crimes.

Throughout the weekend’s events, law enforcement personnel, including ICE, LAPD, and National Guard units, faced dangerous conditions while warning citizens of the unrest and its potential spread.
Border czar Tom Homan criticized the media for ignoring the real reason that ICE was in Los Angeles.

"The Fashion District wasn’t an immigration raid. It was the service of three criminal warrants at locations based on a large criminal conspiracy that ICE is investigating, that has to do with money laundering, tax evasion, and customs fraud – where a company under-declared over $80 million in goods, failed to pay $17 million in fees," he stated in an interview Monday.

"We took a lot of bad people off the street last couple of days – a Vietnamese national that attended a graduation party, was kicked out and came back and killed two young people, two young Americans," Homan said. "We arrested a child predator. We arrested someone for sexual misconduct, someone arrested for convicted of armed robbery. We arrested numerous gang members."
