Teacher in Virginia arrested for selling THC vape cartridges to youth students

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA - Authorities said that a former high school teacher who allegedly sold vape cartridges containing THC and nicotine to students is now facing several charges.

According to Fox News, the former teacher, identified as 28-year-old Kaitlyn Crescent, was taken into custody by the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) in on December 30, 2024, following the alleged incidents at Falls Church High School. FCPD said in a statement, "On October 24, Child Protective Services received a referral that a teacher was selling vape cartridges to students at school. Detectives were notified and assumed the investigation."

The statement added, "Detectives determined that between December 2023 and June 2024, Kaitlyn Crescent, 28, of Alexandria, sold vape cartridges containing nicotine and THC to four students." She has been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, distribution of a controlled substance on school property, and distribution of tobacco/hemp to a minor. If convicted, she faces between one and five years in prison.

FFX Now reported that Crescent's LinkedIn page said that she worked as a learning disabilities teacher at the high school. She no longer works for the school system and has been placed on administrative leave. She is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on a $4,000 bond. The investigation remains ongoing.

In a separate incident, a California middle school teacher was arrested for allegedly sending lewd texts and trying to meet up with a minor. According to CBS News, the Irvine United School District (IUSD) placed 44-year-old Eric Reid Zuercher on administrative leave after he was booked into the Orange County Jail for attempting to converse with a minor to meet and engage in sexual activity.

Investigators arrested Zuercher at his home after a private group contacted the department after posting as a 14-year-old boy online. They told police that they had been communicating with a man when the conversation took a sexually explicit turn and he asked to meet the minor in person.

The group briefly confronted the teacher at his home before calling the police. After sending the text messages to the police, detectives obtained a warrant and arrested the 44-year-old middle school teacher. Zuercher was a teacher at Sierra Vista Middle School in Irvine. The district and police do not believe that he had any inappropriate contact with IUSD students.

She was booked into the Montrose County Jail on a $10,000 bond. The investigation is ongoing and detectives are working to determine if there are any additional witnesses or information related to the case.
