How some programs remain on the air is anyone’s guess. Exhibit A is “The View,” a program started by the legendary Barbara Walters many years ago. It started out as a program that offered a female perspective from varying points of view on events of the day. Now, it is a collection of leftist whiners with one “conservative” thrown in to “balance” it out.
If one looks at the names of the primary hosts of the program, you might get the impression that the program is all sunshine and roses. What else to expect from hosts named Sunny, Whoopi, and Joy. They are, however, anything but what their names imply.
The program focuses on which of the five hosts has the worst case of Trump Derangement Syndrome on a particular day. The show also spends time primarily carrying the water for the Democrat Party while inferring that Republicans are the second coming of Atilla the Hun, or even worse, Hitler!
Recently, after now-President-elect Trump cleaned the clock of Kamala Harris, and Republicans took control of the US Senate and kept the House, the “ladies of The View” have turned their attention to attacking anyone and everyone Trump has nominated for various posts in his cabinet.
One target, in particular, for the cackling hens is the former Rep. Matt Gaetz, a Florida Republican whom Trump nominated as Attorney General. Late last week, Gaetz withdrew his name from consideration, claiming it was serving as a “distraction” from the critical work ahead of the new administration.
Sunny Hostin, who apparently has a law degree and should know better, made the false claim that Gaetz had committed “child sex crimes” and “child trafficking.” After a commercial break, Hostin had to immediately walk back her comments after being given a “legal note” to read, the Post Millennial reported.
When the show returned from a commercial break, co-host Whoopi Goldberg reminded Hostin that she had a legal note to read.
‘I do have a legal note, thank you, Whoopi,” snarked Hostin, clearly pained by the fact she had to walk back her previous comments or face a defamation lawsuit both individually and for the network.
“Matt Gaetz has long denied all allegations, calling the claims, quote, ‘invented,’ and saying in a statement to ABC News that this false smear, following a three-year criminal investigation, should be viewed with great skepticism. That DOJ investigation was closed, with no charges being brought.”
Even though, after a lengthy investigation, the Department of Justice cleared Gaetz of any wrongdoing, leftists, including Hostin, continued repeating the allegations as Hostin used her background working within the Department of Justice as some kind of badge of honor.
“Within the Department of Justice, you know, you have the sex crimes unit, which is what I was a part of,” Hostin said of her job in the early 2000s. “Child sex crimes and child trafficking. How could you nominate someone with allegations of child trafficking or trafficking across state lines and having sex with a 17-year-old?” she queried the audience, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Hostin’s painful walk-back of her comments was panned on X:
Gaetz, who was just reelected to a two-year term on November 5, resigned from his House seat after being nominated by Trump. After withdrawing his name from consideration, Gaetz said he would not be returning to the House at this time after some suggested his resignation only included the current term, not the term that begins in January.
