Denver Mayor Mike Johnston pledged to rebel forcefully against the Trump administration in an interview with the Denverite this week- seemingly tapping into his own party's seditionist roots.
"We're not going to sell out those values to anyone," Johnston said of Colorado's standing amnesty policies pertaining to illegal aliens. "We're not going to be bullied into changing them."
Johnston stated his intent to use Denver Police Department officers in an unconstitutional operation to prevent Immigration and Customs Enforcement personnel from arresting illegals.
Johnston even pledged to use the citizens of Denver in the rebellion.
“More than us having DPD stationed at the county line to keep them out, you would have 50,000 Denverites there," the Democrat said of the confusing prospect.
It's unclear if Johnston plans on the citizens of his city voluntarily choosing to participate in the rebellion- or if he intends to use city resources to coerce his constituents into fighting for the illegals.
Johnston appeared to mildly walk back his comments in a subsequent interview appearance, while continuing to claim that citizens of his city would engage in "civil disobedience" that would land them in jail, according to the Denverite.
"Would I have taken it back if I could? Yes, I probably wouldn't have used that image. That's the image I hope we can avoid. What I was trying to say is this is an outcome I hope we can avoid in this country. I think none of us want that."
Johnston went on to assert that he personally would be willing to face jail time in a rebellion against the federal government, citing statements from President-elect Donald Trump's proposed border czar, Tom Homan.
Communities throughout the metropolitan Denver area have been overrun by criminal aliens during President Joe Biden's tenure, with members of the vicious Venezuelan Tren de Aragua migrant gang occupying entire apartment buildings in the city of Aurora. Denver is committed to a 'sanctuary city' policy- in which local law enforcement is prohibited from working with federal immigration authorities to deport illegal aliens.
Biden presided over an unprecedented influx of illegal aliens during his tenure, with some estimates placing the grand total of illegals living in the United States at between 20 and 25 million people.
