Trump-Held Ceasefire Brings Hostages Home While Hamas-Loving Influencer Meets Deadly Fate

GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE – A 28-year-old Palestinian social media influencer and journalist was reportedly killed the day before Hamas released the remaining Israeli hostages, with reports indicating the influencer was killed in Gaza amid skirmishes with an anti-Hamas militia operating in the area.

Saleh Aljafarawi, who was reportedly known as “Mr. FAFO” while being perceived as a pro-Hamas influencer, was apparently killed on October 12th while documenting the ongoings in Gaza City’s Sabra neighborhood where an anti-Hamas militia, identified as the Doghmush clan, had been embroiled in a clash with Hamas forces.

Local reporting out of the region confirmed Aljafarawi’s death, with Al Jazeera’s Sanad agency having reviewed images of Aljafarawi’s body following the deadly clash in the area, with the deceased reportedly adorned in a jacket emblazoned with the word “PRESS” on it.

The Doghmush clan, while having seemingly had the tacit support of Israel in the past due to the militia’s anti-Hamas motivations, had reportedly heightened tensions between themselves and Hamas after the militia allegedly ambushed Hamas operatives in Gaza City on October 10th near the Jordanian Hospital after a ceasefire was in effect between Hamas and Israel.

Sources within Israel Defense Forces’ (IDF) Southern Command reportedly confirmed their awareness of skirmishes breaking out between various militias and Hamas within southern Gaza following the enacted ceasefire, describing the scattered conflicts as a means to “settle scores” between aggrieved militias and Hamas operatives.

IDF officials have reportedly expressed concerns surrounding the deadly violence stemming from conflicts between these rogue groups and Hamas while peace in the region is being pursued, as civilian casualties have been attributed to both Hamas and these sorts of militias.

Political leadership in Gaza have reportedly been urged by Israeli defense officials “to make clear decisions regarding how to respond to such scenarios.”

Prior to his death, Aljafarawi was reportedly a frequent recipient of threats from those residing in Israel, as his social media activity was viewed as being in furtherance of Hamas’ goals during the war with Israel.

In an interview this past January, Aljafarawi told outlet Al Jazeera that he “lived in fear” after learning about what his critics in Israel routinely said about him.

“Honestly, I lived in fear for every second, especially after hearing what the Israeli occupation was saying about me,” Aljafarawi said this past January, adding, “I was living life second to second, not knowing what the next second would bring.”

President Trump declared the Gaza conflict at an end and was met with a standing ovation in Israel’s parliament, followed by recognition in Egypt on Monday during a signing ceremony honoring his pivotal role in securing a ceasefire in the war-torn region, according to NPR.

As part of the agreement, Hamas released the final 20 Israeli hostages, who had been held for just over two years.

In exchange, Israel released nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners and detainees. Most were transported from Israeli prisons by bus to either Gaza or the West Bank, where they were welcomed by cheering crowds and embraced by family and friends. A portion of the prisoners were sent abroad, effectively placing them in exile.
