ILLINOIS – At least four Republicans running for the primary to take on Democrat Governor JB Pritzker in next year’s gubernatorial election in Illinois have all come out against the state’s TRUST Act, which has been characterized by the current administration as a law making Illinois a de facto sanctuary state.
With the current administration taking aim at the likes of sanctuary cities and states, aspiring Republicans looking to take over the gubernatorial office in Illinois are mirroring the Trump administration’s sentiments towards such jurisdictions, with candidates outwardly calling for an end to Illinois’ controversial TRUST Act.
Brought into existence back in 2017 under Republican leadership in the state, and expanded upon by current Democrat Governor Pritzker under the Illinois Way Forward Act, the TRUST Act and its relevant expansion has served as a vehicle to shield illegal aliens in Illinois by way of preventing local law enforcement from collaborating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in any meaningful capacity in regard to immigration enforcement.
Ted Dabrowski, one of the GOP hopefuls looking to land the Republican nomination to face off against Governor Pritzker, held a press conference outside of the ICE Broadview processing facility on September 24th where he lambasted the sanctuary state laws active on the books within Illinois, calling out former Republican Governor Bruce Rauner and acting Democrat Governor Pritzker for their enablement of the aforesaid laws.
“We're backwards. We're extreme. And that's the big problem. Governor Pritzker's law signed by Governor Rauner, right? So, both of them. It's an extreme law and it should be taken off the books,” Dabrowski told the crowd outside the facility.
DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick, who is also on the Republican primary ticket for governor, has also outwardly stated he intends to repeal Illinois’ sanctuary jurisdiction laws, chalking Governor Pritzker’s pro-illegal immigrant stance up to mere political stunts for a potential White House run in the future.
“The governor is chasing Donald Trump. He's looking for a presidential run,” Sheriff Mendrick stated, adding, “he's using this as his pulpit to say, ‘Look at all the great things that I'm doing to protect people.’ But he's not. JB Pritzker is the cause of all this with the sanctuary state not allowing cooperation with federal authorities.”
Joe Severino, who also has his proverbial hat in the ring to run against Governor Pritzker, said of Illinois’ sanctuary laws, “Local law enforcement should cooperate with the Trump administration’s efforts to get criminal illegal migrants off the streets of Illinois. That’s just common sense. The TRUST Act impedes this effort and makes Illinois a more dangerous place.”
Another vying Republican expected to launch his candidacy in the coming days, Darren Bailey, shared his take on the infamous Illinois laws in in question, stating, “The TRUST Act has been an unmitigated disaster for our state. The idea that law enforcement would be directed to not cooperate with federal agents is a testament to how politics has crept into the basic functions of our government. We need to repeal this terrible policy and return to sanity in our state.”

The whole "sanctuary city" scheme is unlawful and those that support it need to be arrested for treason!
