CHICAGO, IL – An automotive journalist out of Chicago took to X (formerly Twitter) earlier in August to brag about her past experience at the hands of a violent carjacker, claiming despite her being injured and deprived of her vehicle by Chicago’s criminal element, she doesn’t want President Donald Trump’s “troops” patrolling her city.
On August 22nd, President Trump told members of the press that the ongoing federal government intervention in Washington, D.C., with respect to tackling rampant crime may see its way into other notable American cities, with the president remarking that Chicago could be his administration’s next project.
“I really am honored that the National Guard has done such an incredible job working with the police,” President Trump stated.
He added, “And we haven't had to bring in the regular military, which we're willing to do if we have to. And after we do this, we'll go to another location, and we'll make it safe, also. Chicago's a mess. You have an incompetent mayor, grossly incompetent. And we'll straighten that one out probably next, that'll be our next one after this.”
The president continued his comments regarding the Windy City, telling reporters, “They're wearing red hats…African American ladies, beautiful ladies, are saying, ‘Please, President Trump, come to Chicago. Please.’ I did great with the Black vote, as you know. And they want something to happen, so, I think Chicago will be our next, and then we'll help with New York.”
While there are certainly those who are in favor of the president’s efforts to restore a sense of stability in crime-riddled cities across the country, President Trump is not short on his critics.
But when envisioning the likes of the president’s critics with respect to a crackdown on crime, it’s hard not to imagine a stereotypical latte liberal or socialite insulated from the dregs of society.
Conversely, people who’ve been the victim of violent crimes – regardless of their political leanings – tend to keep a pretty open mind toward sensible efforts to curtail crime in their neighborhoods. But when it comes to Jill Ciminillo, a woman who was apparently violently carjacked in her own city of Chicago, she decided to let the world know that she doesn’t want additional law enforcement in her city.
On the same day of President Trump’s comments about Chicago, Ciminillo posted the following on X, “Dear [Donald Trump]…I’ve been carjacked in Chicago with my arm broken. I still don’t want you or your troops here. TIA. [By the way] there are no red hats here.”

There is a lot to unpack in Ciminillo’s post from both an objectively incorrect aspect and a concerning psychological one – with the easiest part to debunk being her assertion that there are no “red hats” – a.k.a., supporters of the current administration – in Chicago.
Following the 2024 election, there were headlines abound regarding President Trump’s gains in areas like Chicago when compared to the numbers from 2016 and 2020.
But what’s most alarming in Ciminillo’s attempt to boast about being brutalized by Chicago’s worst as a means of qualifying her opinion on why the city doesn’t need a federal law enforcement presence is the fact it’s indicative of a broader mental impediment largely impacting self-identified progressives: suicidal empathy.
The concept of suicidal empathy, a term coined by Gaad Saad, refers to someone who upholds, authentically or performatively, compassion without any reasonable limits.
There are several stories pertaining to these progressive stalwarts suffering tragic losses or even being killed themselves by the very sort of ideals they stand by upholding, much like how journalist Josh Kruger was killed in a home invasion after mocking Dilbert creator Scott Adams’ past assertion that a Biden presidency would likely result in increased homicides.
Of course there’s the case of Mollie Tibbetts, a 20-year-old woman gruesomely murdered by an illegal alien from Mexico, and in the wake of her death, her father defended the presence of illegal aliens in the country by claiming they’re just “Iowans with better food.”
It’s frankly hard to not read Rob Tibbetts’ poorly timed defense of illegal aliens as being akin to saying, ‘Yeah, my daughter was killed, but at least we still have tacos.’
In a not-so-shocking turn of events, Ciminillo was ruthlessly mocked in the comments of her post bragging about not wanting more police in the city she was violently carjacked in, with the highest-liked response in her post coming from the account “Retard Finder,” which simply responds with, “Hi Jill.”
After being ruthlessly mocked in her replies, Ciminillo tried backtracking her statement on X, delivering a follow up post that reads, “To be clear. The police in Chicago aren’t the problem. The judicial system is. CPD caught my carjackers. The courts let him go. So. Send us resources, not federalized police.”

Yet again, Ciminillo was forced to eat her own words, as online sleuths pointed to a November 2024 post where she bragged about how she researches “the issues & check[s] every single judge on the ballot” when casting her vote for local judicial elections.
Ergo, she essentially voted for the very outcome she received in court relating to her carjackers.

These people are beyond saving, if having been violently carjacked doesn’t wake one up to a crime problem in their city, then nothing will.

Per her Tweet, they don't need "resources". She admitted in the previous sentence what the problem was - "The courts let him go", him being her attacker. The problem isn't a lack of resources. It's corrupt courts - prosecutors and judges - who care more about the criminal element, no matter how violent they are, than the innocent civilians they're SUPPOSED to be protecting.

So, if they actually kill her, will that be enough for her to see the point in Trump's efforts to return our cities to some sort of law and order?
