Group of teens steal half a million dollars worth of luxury cars, believed to be part of organized crime ring

WAUKESHA, WI - One suspect has been arrested after a group of teenagers stole over $500,000 worth of vehicles last week, police said. Authorities believe the youth are a part of an organized crime ring from the Chicago area

According to Waukesha Police Captain Dan Baumann, nine suspects wearing face masks broke into the Jaguar-Land Rover dealership on Sunday, February 18 around 6:00 a.m. The group found where the keys to the vehicles were kept, then used the key fobs to locate their targeted vehicles.

One suspect drove a vehicle through in reverse through a service center garage-style door. The suspect exited that vehicle before each of the nine suspects drove off with a luxery car. The total value of the vehicles was approximately $583,000.

"Kids nowadays are becoming more and more brazen to go out, and to take a group like this, and commit a crime like this," Captain Baumann told local news outlets.

A 17-year-old from Chicago was arrested in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin following police pursuit and crash. Police there said the teen was driving the stolen vehicle from the theft the week prior when police located him. The teen did not stop when police attempted to pull him over, resulting in a pursuit.

When the teen was driving on Interstate 94, he crashed the vehicle. Police say that the suspect is being held at the Waukesha County Jail facing a $50,000 bond for charges of burglary, theft and criminal damage to property charges.

Captain Baumann said that police believe the group of masked thiefs are part of “an organized crime group of teenagers from the Chicago area.” Several of the suspects are known to police in that area.

While five of the other vehicles aside from the one just mentioned have already been recovered (four in Chicago city limits, one in a Chicago suburb, Deerfield), the other eight suspects are still at large.
