ICE Slams Gov. Pritzker as Illinois Releases 1,700 Criminal Illegal Aliens — Including Rapists and Pedophiles

WASHINGTON, DC – Homeland Security issued a press release earlier in December highlighting the outcomes of the ongoing sanctuary policies in Illinois, noting how over 1,700 criminal illegal aliens arrested or convicted of serious offenses have been released back into Illinois communities since January of this year.

As previously reported in Law Enforcement Today, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director Todd Lyons sent a letter to numerous officials within sanctuary states back in September, among them Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul, seeking cooperation regarding the issuance of ICE detainers.

The letter sent to AG Raoul requesting the honoring of ICE detainers, much like the letters issued to other officials in New York and California, was disregarded. Since the onset of the Trump administration this past January, Homeland Security claims that Illinois has released 1,768 criminal illegal aliens back onto the streets despite ICE detainers being issued.

To illustrate the sort of offenders being released back into Illinois communities due to sanctuary policies, Homeland Security detailed nine criminal illegal aliens that ICE has apprehended in recent months within the state.

  •  Victor Manuel Mendoza-Garcia, an illegal alien from Mexico, has three prior convictions of aggravated kidnapping/ransom, which resulted in an 18-year prison sentence in the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC). Following an ignored immigration detainer, ICE apprehended Mendoza this past November.
  • Juan Morales Martinez, an illegal alien from Guatemala, was arrested after being present in a vehicle where police found an extended magazine and ammunition. The Clark County Jail ignored an issued detainer for Martinez, but ICE managed to apprehend the individual outside the jail facility shortly after being released this past October.
  •  Amilcar Waldo Gonzalez-Jimenez, an illegal alien from Mexico, has prior convictions of DUI, domestic battery, and two counts of criminal sexual assault. Following an ignored immigration detainer, ICE apprehended Gonzalez this past November.
  • Juan Alberto Caro Marin, an illegal alien from Mexico, has a prior conviction for aggravated criminal sexual abuse, which resulted in a 6-year prison sentence in IDOC. Following an ignored immigration detainer, ICE apprehended Marin this past November.
  • Jose Manuel Fuentes-Vargas, an illegal alien from Mexico, has prior arrests for domestic battery and violating a protection order, as well as a prior conviction for sexual assault of a victim under 13 years of age. Following an ignored immigration detainer, ICE apprehended Fuentes this past October.
  • Leonardo Ignat-Osto, an illegal alien from Mexico, has illegally entered the country at least four separate times and has a conviction history dating back to 2010 out of Cook County. Most recently, Ignat was convicted of child abduction/luring of a victim under 17 years of age, which resulted in a 1-year sentence. The Cook County Jail released Ignat despite the issuance of an immigration detainer, with ICE apprehending him this past November.
  • Jaime Mandujano-Nunez, an illegal alien from Mexico, has a prior conviction for predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, which resulted in a 17-year sentence at IDOC. Following an ignored immigration detainer, ICE apprehended Mandujano this past November.
  • Alfonso Batalla Garcia, an illegal alien from Mexico, has prior convictions for attempted murder, aggravated criminal sexual assault with bodily harm, and aggravated kidnapping, which resulted in a 30-year sentence at IDOC, as well as numerous arrests for battery and firearms offenses. Following an ignored immigration detainer, ICE apprehended Garcia this past November.
  • Guillermo Garcia-Porcayo, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, has a prior arrest for aggravated battery resulting in great bodily harm as well as a 2018 conviction for attempted murder, which resulted in a 12-year sentence at IDOC. Following an ignored immigration detainer, IDOC released Garcia back into the community after only serving seven years behind bars for the attempted murder conviction. ICE apprehended Garcia this past July, and he has since been removed from the country.
Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin criticized Illinois’s sanctuary policies, calling out Governor JB Pritzker and those in his inner circle as being complicit in the release of “murderers, pedophiles, and kidnappers back into our neighborhoods and putting American lives at risk.”

“We are calling on Governor Pritzker and his administration to stop this dangerous derangement and commit to honoring the ICE arrest detainers of the more than 4,000 criminal illegal aliens in Illinois’ custody,” McLaughlin stated, adding, “It is common sense. Criminal illegal aliens should not be released back onto our streets to terrorize more innocent Americans.”
