WASHINGTON, DC - The new and improved FBI is re-examining several Biden-era cases that were previously left uninvestigated, leaving many Americans confused that the world's leading investigative agency turned up no results on those high-profile incidents.
Those incidents include a bag of cocaine found in the White House in 2023, the two pipe bombs found outside the national headquarters of the Democratic and Republican Parties in 2021, and the unprecedented leak of a pending Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade.
“Shortly after swearing in, the Director and I evaluated a number of cases of potential public corruption that, understandably, have garnered public interest. We made the decision to either re-open or push additional resources and investigative attention to these cases,” Bongino said in a post on X.
“These cases are the DC pipe bombing investigation, the cocaine discovery at the prior administration’s White House, and the leak of the Supreme Court Dobbs case. I receive requested briefings on these cases weekly, and we are making progress. If you have any investigative tips on these matters that may assist us, then please contact the FBI.”
Out of the three cases, perhaps the most egregious was the discovery of pipe bombs planted outside the DNC and RNC headquarters buildings in Washington, DC, on January 5, 2021. The next day, then-Vice President Kamala Harris’s motorcade drew within only 20 feet of the device planted outside the DNC.
Earlier this year, Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) and Thomas Massie (R-KY) released a report on the pipe bombs. The report uncovered a series of blunders by the Secret Service, which put Harris and then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi in grave danger, as both were in motorcades driving within feet of the device at the DNC.
In addition, the FBI claimed that it received “corrupted data” from one of the major cell carriers in the DC Metro area, however in letters responding to the Congressional committees, the major cell carriers said they did not provide corrupted data to the FBI nor did the agency ever notify them of issues accessing the cellular data.
The report also stated that the FBI identified multiple “persons of interest” during the initial portion of the investigation. However, despite the presence of a plethora of video surveillance cameras in Washington, DC, the FBI was unable to identify the suspect. Remember, the FBI was able to identify thousands of individuals who were at the US Capitol on January 6, many of whom were identified through metadata received from cellphone companies. It would seem to be beyond belief that they weren’t able to do the same for the person who planted the two pipe bombs.
Then there is the discovery of cocaine in a storage locker near the White House’s West Wing on July 2, 2023. The United States Secret Service discovered the cocaine and undertook an investigation, which was unable to identify the source of the narcotic.
“On July 12, the Secret Service received the FBI’s laboratory results, which did not develop latent fingerprints, and insufficient DNA was present for investigative comparisons,” the USSS said in 2023. “Therefore, the Secret Service is not able to compare evidence against the known pool of individuals. The FBI’s evaluation of the substance also confirmed that it was cocaine.”
When the story was dropped, many people immediately suspected the drugs belonged to Biden’s son, Hunter, who had a long, documented history of substance abuse. One person who believes the cocaine was Hunter's was President Trump, who earlier this year told The Spectator’s Ben Domenech he thought it belonged to either Hunter or Joe Biden.
“So…who actually left the cocaine in the White House?” Domenech asked the president.
“Well, either Joe or Hunter,” Trump responded. “Could be Joe, too.”
Some have attributed Joe Biden’s mood swings to a possible substance abuse issue, with the former president going from speaking in somber tones to yelling incoherently the next minute. Alternatively, it could be a sign of dementia.
“That was such a terrible thing because, you know, those bins are very loaded up with…they’re not clean, and they have hundreds and even thousands of fingerprints,” Trump told Domenech. “And when they went to look at it, it was completely stone cold, wiped dry. You know that, right?”
At the time the cocaine was discovered, the Bidens, including Hunter, were not at the White House but were staying at the presidential retreat at Camp David.
Finally, the FBI is going to reopen the investigation into the 2022 leak of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision, which led to widespread violence by pro-abortion advocates nationwide, and resulted in a man driving from California to Washington, DC to assassinate conservative Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, The Washington Stand reports.
One person who supports the FBI’s renewed interest in the case is John Malcolm, Vice President of the Institute for Constitutional Government and Director of the Meese Center for Legal and Judicial Studies at the Heritage Foundation.
The Dobbs leak was a gross abuse of trust by someone within the court system,” he told The Stand. “I doubt that the Dobbs leak itself had much impact on how the public views the court’s legitimacy and impartiality. The public’s view of such matters is more governed by whether they like the results in particular cases and by ill-considered, harsh rhetoric challenging the integrity of some of the justices and criticizing opinions on controversial cases.
“In a very real way, though, the Dobbs leak imperiled the lives of the justices and their families.”
In May 2022, Politico published a draft of the Dobbs decision, written earlier that year by Justice Samuel Alito. The draft indicated the Supreme Court was likely to rule in favor of Jackson Women’s Health Organization and would result in overturning Roe v. Wade, a prior ruling by the high court that legalized abortion.
In the piece, Politico cited a “person familiar with the court’s deliberations” to confirm that Justices Thomas, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett had already voted in favor of Alito’s opinion following oral arguments in December 2021, thereby striking down Roe and Planned Parenthood v. Casey.
Chief Justice John Roberts said at the time in a statement that “this betrayal of the confidences of the Court was intended to undermine the integrity of our operations.
“This was a singular and egregious breach of that trust that is an affront to the Court and the community of public servants who work here.”
CNN later reported that the chief justice was attempting to sway conservative judges to join him in an opinion that would have upheld Jackson, while leaving Roe and Casey in place. CNN said that the leak of the draft opinion “made the effort all but impossible.”
While it is unknown who leaked the draft decision to Politico, it appeared clear that the political left had the most to gain from the leak. And, according to people with knowledge of Supreme Court operations, it would have had to be either a liberal justice or one of their clerks who leaked the decision.
Roberts ordered Supreme Court Marshal Gail Curley to conduct an investigation into the leak, rather than involving an actual law enforcement agency. Nine months later, Curley and the Supreme Court concluded that the investigation had been unsuccessful, despite forensic analysis, nearly 130 interviews with staff members, and an examination of SCOTUS policies and processes regarding the circulation of drafts and the use of technology.
One fierce critic of the investigation was Glenn Fine, a former Inspector General (IG) for the Department of Justice and Deputy Inspector General for the Department of Defense, who slammed Curley’s investigation.
“This result did not surprise me,” Fine said, noting that in his experience, leaks “are notoriously difficult to resolve.”
“Unfortunately, the leak investigation…demonstrates how not to conduct a leak investigation.
‘The first problem in the Court’s leak investigation was whom the Court asked to conduct it,” Fine continued, noting Curley’s lack of experience in “conducting this type of complex investigation,” and also that she “did not have the necessary independence to conduct the investigation. In essence, she was asked to investigate her bosses, the justices, who are in the universe of potential leakers. They supervise her and can fire her.”
Fine noted that even though Curley interviewed Supreme Court justices, none were conducted under oath. He said the “investigation” appeared to have a foregone conclusion–that clerks and other employees, not the justices, were likely sources of the leak.
Hopefully, the Kash Patel-led FBI can get to the bottom of these three cases–and many more.
