WASHINGTON, DC- Political violence, once thought to be a relic of the 1960s and 1970s has reared its ugly head, with increasing incidents of left-wing politically-motivated violence seemingly exploding over the past several years.
From the attempted assassination of President Trump in July 2024 to the murder of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson to the assassination of conservative icon Charlie Kirk, the unhinged on the left are becoming more brazen in their attempts to kill those to whom they are politically opposed.
On May 23, a gunman, Nasir Best, opened fire outside the White House, shooting at Secret Service agents tasked with protecting the executive mansion, who returned fire, killing Best. This was just the latest act of political violence seemingly once again targeting the president, following by only weeks an apparent assassination attempt at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, DC.
Retired FBI agent and Fox News contributor Nicole Parker praised the Secret Service agents who took out the shooter. Parker noted that many of the attempts on Trump’s life occurred on weekends.
“You can never, ever let your guard down, because these individuals do not rest on the weekends, they are evil when they want to carry out an action they do,” Parker said.
She also noted that the shooter, who apparently had mental health issues, and lost his life…”you cannot ever pull out a revolver…and not expect any consequence but to lose your life.”
The anchor then asked about a funding controversy taking place, where funding for the Secret Service is being held up partially due to a request for additional Secret Service funds in a request to build a new ballroom at the White House.
“What I do know is that law enforcement must be funded. Secret Service must be funded. The Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, there should be no question as far as those agencies…they must be funded, no questions asked,” Parker replied.
Parker noted that the reasoning given by the president for the ballroom is to provide a secure environment. The shooting at the WHCA dinner took place at the DC Hilton, the same hotel where President Ronald Regan was shot.
