DALLAS/FORT WORTH, TX - David Prince owns two gun stores in the north Texas metropolitan area known as DFW.  The area is home to almost eight million people. And, even in gun ownership-friendly Texas, recent events have shown a marked increase in firearms sales for people like Prince.

Speaking with WFAA, Prince, who owns Eagle Gun Range in Lewisville and Farmers Branch, said that the recent terrorist activity in Israel was a motivating factor in the 300% increase in sales he has seen since Hamas terrorists glided into a musical festival and started killing attendees.

He has seen a large number of first-time buyers who are Jewish coming in out of fear.

"There's several of them that we have talked to, it is most definitely their motivation," he said. These people are coming in and saying they are scared for their lives, because of their religion, they are expecting to be attacked."

WFAA also spoke to a man named Jake, who only allowed his first name to be used due to the social media chatter that Israelis worldwide could become targets. Jake is a native of Israel now living in the US.

"It was literally like living in the middle of a horror movie. From my experiences in Israel, whenever something big happens, the Jews around the world, suffer from it as well. With what's going over there, I'm more concerned of something going bad," he told the local ABC affiliate.

Jake said his purchase was based on being able to protect his family.

"We all want peace at the end of the day. That's all we want. That's the main thing that we hope for That's all we want for our families and for our nations."

But given there are those out there who prefer violence over peace, and they are coming into this country unfettered by failed border policies, it is absolutely crucial that Jake, and all of us, are prepared to protect our families.

That sentiment is not simply confined to Texas.

Many Americans are on heightened alert after the attack and global calls from jihadists for attacks everywhere. FBI Director Christopher Wray indicated that they believe that what is happening in Israel may find its way to the US.

And the open border crisis is doing nothing to slow down those potential threats.

"In this heightened environment, there's no question we're seeing an increase in reported threats, and we've got to be on the lookout, especially for lone actors who may take inspiration from recent events to commit violence of their own," Wray said recently.

Several members of federal law enforcement, who are friends to us here at Law Enforcement Today, have told us that the potential threats are real and credible. They have instructed us to keep our heads on a "swivel."

Shortly after the initial terrorism in Israel, we published a piece that detailed exactly why the 2nd Amendment is so vital to our way of life.
