WASHINGTON, DC- Fear not, parents. Despite your children's reading and math scores being at historic lows, America’s teachers' unions are laser-focused on important matters, like pushing “neopronouns.” If you don't know what “neopronouns” are, you’re not alone. American teachers’ unions, however, are making sure your children know what that means.
At an event called “Advancing LGBTQ+ Justice,” sponsored by the National Education Association, which boasts over three million members, attendees viewed slides illustrating neo-and xenopronouns, according to documents obtained by Defending Education, reports The New York Post.
What are neopronouns? Made up words such as “xe/xem/xyr” and other assorted letters thrown together. Xeopronouns? Those are for so-called “conceptual identities” such as “cat/cats/catself.”
That’s not made up.
This is what our children are being exposed to in public schools and spread across the country. And we wonder why the younger generation is crumbling.
All of this is happening in schools while test scores are plummeting. Part of the blame can be laid on students being forced out of school for extended periods during the COVID fiasco, a policy pushed by the NEA and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) under the guise of “student safety.”
In fact, union leaders were likely seeking extended time off for their members.
According to ABC News, high school students, specifically seniors, are reading and learning math at historic lows. The Nation’s Report Card, released earlier this year by the Department of Education, showed that nearly half of high school seniors were testing below basic levels in math and reading. While the reading scores were low, the math scores were abysmal, with only 22% of high school seniors performing at or above proficiency standards.
For fourth-grade students, only 31% read at or above proficiency, while 39% were at or above proficiency in math, according to the Center for Education Reform.
But don’t worry, Mom and Dad. Your child’s teachers are all over it...when they’re not dabbling in politically correct BS like “preferred pronouns.”
Pronouns aren’t the only thing teachers’ unions are focused on. Defending Education also found that America is verboten, so it is instead referred to as “what we know as the United States of America” and “what we now call the United States of America.” Even though the United States will be celebrating our 250th anniversary of gaining our independence, teachers’ unions still bloviate about being on “stolen land.”
The word “homosexual?” Also out, according to the NEA, which calls the term “clinical” and “dog whistle-y.” These people teach English but make up words like “dog-whistle-y.”
With President Trump back in the presidency and with the adults being back in charge, the woke mind virus won’t have a chance to take on a life of its own. However, if (God forbid) the Democrats get back to running the show, the lunatics at the NEA and AFT will run roughshod over our kids like they did for the past four years. If Democrats cared about kids like they claim (despite advocating for the murder of millions every year), they would get a grip on the out-of-control teachers’ unions.
Referring to the documents obtained at the conference, NEA founder and president Nicole Neily said:
“These documents—as well as other leaked materials we’ve obtained over the past several years—underscore that union leadership cares more about politics than their students’ well-being.
“Teachers are meant to educate children, not serve as agents of social change.”
The liberal mind virus being thrust upon our children is one reason why homeschooling is on the rise. According to the National Home Education Research Institute, homeschooling has increased between 2% to 8% annually over the past several years, but exploded in 2019-2020 and 2020-2021, driven in part by pandemic-era restrictions implemented by the Biden administration at the behest of the NEA and AFT.
As teachers continue to focus on DEI and radical LGBTQ ideology, more parents, at least those who truly care about their children, will be looking for alternatives. Homeschooling and school choice should be more widely available until teachers get back to teaching the basics. Kids—especially elementary school students—don't need to know about the differences between “genderqueer,” “gender fluid” and “agender” as slides at the conference suggested.
It’s time to rein in the NEA and AFT before it’s too late for our children. Get your kids OUT of public schools.
